SUN BURN HELP....ouchhhh

Here are 10 helpful tips to help a sunburn....
Also remember to use plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated!

INFO FOUND HERE

1. Soak it up. For immediate relief, soak the sunburned areas in cold water (but not ice water) or with cold compresses for 15 minutes. The cold reduces swelling and wicks away heat from your skin.
2. Take a dip. If you’re burned all over, take a soak in a cool bath to which you’ve added oatmeal. You can either buy a colloidal oatmeal product, such as Aveeno, or simply grind up a cup of oatmeal in a food processor and add it to your bath.
3. Give yourself a green tea compress. Brew up a pot of green tea and let it cool. Soak a clean cloth in the tea, and use it as a compress for sunburned areas. The tea contains ingredients that help protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation damage and reduce inflammation.
4. Freshen up with mint. Use the cooling, aromatic qualities of peppermint to quell the scorch of a sunburn. Either make peppermint tea or mix two drops of peppermint oil with a cup of lukewarm water. Chill the concoction and gently bathe the sunburned area.
5. Bring veggies to the rescue. For extra-painful spots of sunburn, rub the area gently with sliced cucumber or potato. They contain compounds that cool the burn and help reduce swelling.
6. Try some vinegar. Vinegar contains acetic acid—one of the components of medications such as Aspirin. It can help ease sunburn pain, itching, and inflammation. Soak a few sheets of paper towels in white vinegar, and apply them to the sunburned areas. Leave them on until the towels are dry. Repeat as needed.
7. Take a vinegary bath. If the sunburn itches, take a cool bath, but add two cups of vinegar to the bathwater before you get in.
8. Coat yourself. Mix baking soda and vinegar to make a thick paste, and slather it over the sunburned areas. Apply the salve before bedtime, and leave it on overnight.
9. Make your bed sunburn-safe. Sprinkle your sheets with cornstarch to minimize painful chafing. (Use this technique only for bad sunburns, since you’ll have to wash the sheets afterward.)
10. Go for aloe. Apply a light coating of pure aloe vera to the sunburned skin, using either a fresh piece from the plant or in the gel form you can buy at the drugstore. If you buy the gel, make sure it’s 100% pure aloe vera

KEEP COOL WITH A COOLING NECK TIE...

Last summer, for a few months I lived on a working farm with the best landlords ever!..We were moving to Maryland from Tennessee and our house sold quickly and we still had a few month of school left for the girls.  We tried to stay in a extended stay hotel and OMG that didn't work! NO closet, people jumping above you at 2:00 in the morning..

My husband remembered one his friends had a old restored farm house that was empty.  They gladly let us rent it.  I was to happy to be out of the little hotel room with two kids....The lady and man who worked on their farm were older and every morning they were up, working a the crack of dawn.  It being summer--- it was dreaded hot!

I got on the internet and goggled what I could make to keep them cooler...I was so excited when I found these cool neck ties.  I went and bought my supplies and made them a couple. They were so thankful and loved them....I got the directions from HERE  BELOW IS A PICTURE OF WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE...  These have so many uses, picnics, sports, mowing, and GIFTS.. the use is endless..They are so cheap to make!!

picture borrowed from google images.

1 yard of cotton fabric that is at least 42" wide and a maximum of 45". This will make 8 ties
Wash the fabric before use.
Water absorbing polymers these are available at hardware's for gardening or you can purchase them at Watersorb http://www.watersorb.com. If ordering from Watersorb, order the medium granules.
A tape measure.
Sewing machine.
Scissors.
1. Cut or tear strips 4 1/2" wide by the fabric width eg. 45".
2. Fold fabric in half, right sides together, on the long edge sew the long seam.
3. Turn over and iron.
4.Mark the centre and stitch along it. Now you have a tube about 2" wide and 42" - 45" long.
5. Drop in 1/8 tsp of crystals on each side of the seam. You can roll up a piece of paper to use as a funnel to make it easier.
IMPORTANT: At first only make a test tie with the brand of polymers you're using to make sure its the correct amount after it's soaked.
6. Mark 4 1/2" from the centre and seam again.
Now you have 2 pockets with crystals.
7. Add another 1/8 tsp of in both sides and seam 4 1/2 inches from the first set of seams again. You will now have 4 pockets. Hopefully!!
8. Fold in raw edges and sew across to finish. If you prefer you can make the ends diagonal.
Care instructions:
  • Place in cold water approx 30 min, until crystals become gel.
  • Tie around head or neck. Tie will be more effective if placed in the refrigerator before use or soaked in ice cold water.
  • Regenerate by soaking 1-3 minutes.
  • Do not freeze
  • Dehydrate to store
  • Hand wash only with a mild soap

IMMA LOVING THIS APP...

I have like 10 of those store saving cards (the key rings cards) I decided to download this app because my dear husband took my car to work the other day and left me his.  He needed the bigger vehicle for that day.  I was going to CVS to do some shopping and use my coupons to grab some deals.

I get to the store in a GOOD MOOD and then went to place MY keys into my coupon bag and was like HOLY SMOKES.... he has my keys...I was super MAD to say the least..He had all my store key ring cards....I had all my deals worked out and only needed a few more dollars to grab one of their summer gas cards.... That threw everything off!!!  GRRRRRRR  One rule don't mess with momma's coupons.... wahahaha

So I called him to say ummm honey you have my keys and I'm at CVS coupon-ing.... he honestly LAUGHED... I am usually a calm person..I was like, I don't find that funny...So, I went to try to use my phone number, but I have moved to 3 different states in 6 years so a phone number wouldn't work... The cashier gave me a new card and told me to call on Monday and have them take my balances from the new card and put on my old card....So in the end it worked out!!!

WOW that was a long story to just post this awesome phone APP!!!! hehehe
I then treated myself to a LARGE LATTE and used his bank card! wahahaha

TODAY...I took him couponing and he added $5.00 to my Out of pocket expense....grrrrr ---needless to say I'm not taking him anymore....
